Getting A New Tenor Recorder!

Well, thanks to my friends' contributions to the Drolar Recorder Fund, I'll be getting a new tenor recorder sometime in the next couple of months. I've decided on a Mollenhauer Denner double key tenor. It will be similar in wood color to the first two in the picture, but will be the length of the third recorder since it will have the double keys for C/C#. Anyway, I'm really excited about it. It will be my first wood tenor, and I can't wait to take it to my local recorder group to play!

I chose the Mollenhauer Denner based on reputation and recommendation of Bill Lazar at Lazar's Early Music. Bill was very nice and very helpful when I spoke with him earlier this week. I told him my music history (including my recorder history) and my budget, and he helped me narrow it down to the Denner. It ranges in cost on the internet form $500 - $750 with shipping. Lazar's had the best price, and I generally like the way they present on the internet and on the telephone.

Mollenhauer is a German company that has been making musical instruments since 1823. They are a very reputable manufacturer and have an interesting company history.

Anyway, I'll post a pic of the actual instrument when I finally get it. If you'd like to make a donation to the Drolar Recorder Fund, please email me at drolar@gmail.com.

Wish me luck in getting the money together!

dro out!
